Winter masquerade at Roberts

Roberts Wesleyan College held their annual winter formal on Friday, Dec. 12 at the Auditorium Center in Rochester. The formal, dubbed “Enchantment: A Christmas Masquerade,” was attended by approximately 300 students. The event provided a repose from homework and finals stress as well as a chance to dress up for an evening of dinner and dancing.


Midnight Breakfast

After a final week of classes and a weekend of studying, Keuka College students were provided with a midnight breakfast served by the faculty of the college. Although it is called “midnight breakfast,” students put the books down at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8 to kick back, listen to some music by Paul Strowe, and even win a bike. RIT hockey defeated Mercyhurst college 6-2 at RIT’s Ritter Arena on Dec. 12.

One Act Festival at Roberts

Last weekend, Roberts Wesleyan College’s Theater minor program presented their annual One Act Festival. The festival was comprised of five -short plays featuring students of all majors and class levels. Admission was free, and the seats in Shewan Recital Hall filled completely each night.


Black Friday

The crowds were intense on Black Friday despite fears over the country’s economic recession. Lines were backed up to the door in some stores.

“I was at American Eagle and they had some amazing deals but the line was just so long that I couldn’t even wait,” said Aaron Michael, a SUNY Brockport junior and arts for children major.

If you stopped at stores such as Aeropostale or American Eagle on Friday morning, you would’ve been waiting in line for at least a half an hour due to the great deals.


Campus Activities Conference a Success

Campus activities board members from Keuka College participated in the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities Conference in Syracuse November 16th - 18, 2008. Rocloop tagged along with the Keuka College students.


Middle school dance at Roberts

The Roberts Wesleyan College class of 2010 cabinet members throw a 90’s middle school dance for the campus. Guests were encouraged to remember the awkward dances in middle school, complete with shuffle dance steps, suspenders, big sweaters, and side ponytails. An energetic crowd showed up ready dance, and 90s dance tunes were provided by a DJ.


Smashing results!

Roberts students visit Stratford Festival

On Tuesday, October 28, twenty-six students and three faculty members from Roberts Wesleyan College piled onto a bus and traveled three hours to the Stratford festival in Ontario, Canada. A matinee of “Romeo and Juliet” was performed by Shakespearean actors from around the world. Though snowflakes were whirling around their heads, the students enjoyed the charm of Stratford’s town and surroundings. Stratford is home to the largest pool of Shakespearean acting talent in North America.

The fall season is upon us, but spirits were blossoming with the annual Keuka College Halloween Costume Contest. Students, faculty and staff came together to show off their imaginative and pretty scary costumes. Photos taken by Casey Dahlstrom


Residence Hall Catches Fire!

Halloween at Keuka College was pretty much the same as any other Halloween until Davis Hall caught fire around 6pm. Rocloop was there as students were immediately evacuated and firefighters quickly to douse the flames. The reason for this fire on the southeast exterior is still under investigation.


Balloon Manor opens in the Mall at Greece Ridge

The fourth annual Balloon Manor opened last weekend in the Mall at Greece Ridge. Balloon Manor, a 10,000 square foot haunted house made entirely of balloons, is open for tours until October 26. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Teens Living With Cancer. For more information, check out http://balloonmanor.com.


Wing Fest features great prizes and fun

Tasty chicken wings, great prizes and fun times were had by all during the SUNY Brockport chicken wing fest on Thursday, October 23.

The event was sponsored by the Brockport Student government and students were able to come relax, hang out with friends and play some video games as well.

Each student got a raffle ticket when they walked in for a chance to win prizes such as an iPod Nano, digital camera or the featured prize, an XBox 360.

Senior Environmental science major Chris Bruet was the lucky winner of the XBox 360.


Midnight Madness "Fights the Bite" at Nazareth College

The Nazareth College men’s and women’s basketball teams along with the Center for Spirituality hosted a Midnight Madness “Fight the Bite” event with proceeds going to Nothing but Nets, a worldwide organization committed to fighting malaria in Africa by buying bed nets.


Swimming and Diving at RIT

RIT’s swimming and diving team faced off Alfred University team on Wednesday, October 22 at RIT’s Judson pool.


Hockey: Behind the Scenes of the RIT Home Opener

The Loop joined the RIT hockey team as they made their home debut. At the end of the night, Clarkson’s Golden Knights beat the RIT Tigers 6 to 4.
