Keuka College
Located on the shores of Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes region, Keuka College is home to a variety of undergrad, grad and ASAP (Accelerated Studies for Adults Program) students. Rev. George Harvey Ball founded Keuka College in 1890 with the vision of creating a school for all students, regardless of economic status. In 1985, the College opened its doors to male students. Did you know…
The College has strong roots in the Native American tradition, citing each of the four graduating classes as a different tribe. Classes are named for either the Mohawk, Tuscarora, Seneca, or Onondaga tribes on a rotating basis. Point Neamo, Keuka’s own shoreline piece of Keuka Lake, is said to be guarded by Princess Neamo, who drowned in the lake waiting for her Indian prince to rescue her. Legend has it that the seaweed in the lake is actually Princess Neamo’s hair
